Now tho, it also has EFI... Should mean some more power... Not that it ever lacked, just not real quick. Course it wasn't meant for speed. Trail riding is it's fortay... IMHO

Yea thats all you hear these days, more power, faster, does wheelies, power is great, but anything from a 500 up has more than enough, fast, ok, everything 500 and up will run 50+, thats fast through any trail, dirt or gravel road, wheelies? rather have mine planted solid on the trail than poping the front end up all the time. I rather hear about engine braking, ride comfort and durability! The rincon sounds improved, did they do anything with the transmission gearing? Thats the only complaint I ever hear about from their owners.

Hell I like th Rincon.
I rode all day and tried to ride it like a sport bike, I have to say it did very well. I agree the tranny needs help, but the only thing I did not like about it was the lack of hold back. Other than that it is a fun machine to ride. Over 3035 members and growing! Thanks to all of you for helping to make this board a nice place to hang out!!! Engine braking is negligeable however, they did upgrade the drum to discs up front. Seems to me that I can go up any hill that I try at Windrock and come down the same way without problems. That is what brakes are for, to stop your forward/backward momentum. I think brakes give you more control overall than engine braking. Of course that is just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions

I'm happy they added discs but my drums work fine. Sure I have to clean them occasionally and adjust them but it's no big deal. They always have great stopping power.
I like that htey added EFI but I had kinda hoped for maybe a v-twin to smooth out the motor shake abit. Also lower gearing is still needed for those steep declines. I really like the new camo too, also the ajustable preload should be nice on the rear shocks. ---=Mine=--- 04 Rincon GPScape, Maxxis 25" Bighorn Radials with Maxxis 8 spoke rims, Warn Front Bumper, Aluminum Products full Belly Skid Plate, Front skid plate/Hook Holster, Front & Rear Stik-Gards, Warn 2500 LB winch, Kimpex Grip Heaters, Cabelas Large Rear Trunk, IPI Saddle Bag, 2" Receiver hitch, Kimpex Front Trunk Box, Oil Cooler Mod, Re-routed Carb Vent lines, 2" exhaust tip, Spider Grips and Custom Scratches Dings and Dents ---=Hers=--- 04 Rancher AT 400, Maxxis 25" Bighorn Radials, ITP C-Series Type 5 Wheels, Kimpex Grip Heaters, Perfex Suspension Kit, Kimpex Deluxe Rear Trunk, Spider Grips |

i was hoping for a vtwin as well but do think its great that they added EFI. Im hoping the smooths the throttle a bit. The adjustable preload would have been nice for me cux im so big could have jacked it up for larger rear and may not had needed tho hl springs i bought.
Im actually thinking of ordering the camo plastics and putting them on my 05 rincon cuz i like camo qauds so much. Yea I like the camo also. I wanting to try one of those 700's. I bet they are a blast to ride. When they first came out I had a Kaw P650 and the Rincon was just slightly slower, perhaps the 700 will Git-R-Done!

We will see, i have friend working at the local honda shop now. He said when the new one makes it to the showroom and i can come by and test ride it with him
oh and when it comes to lower gears for for the rincon for those of you looking for them, Turner Cycles is currently making a gear reduction package for the rincon. This is a direct replacement for the gears on it. Here is the link read the red text right above the pictures of the 2 Hondas on the mainpage. O and if you have ever wanted a 03-05 model year 802cc Honda Rincon Check out the custom 4x4's section and their engine builds. Any one wanna give me 4500 to do a test and review of the package lol! http://www.turnercycles.com/index.asp Gorrila will be releasing gear step down boxes that go on the transmission housing then the drive shafts and diffs connect to the step down box. I dont have a link to them on gorrilas web site as they are still in the developement stage. But will be released sometime after the first of the year. Well I just talked to the local(closest) dealer to me again. He said the truck driver had called and asked for directions so the Rincon should be delieverd there sometime this evening.
The next closest Honda dealer to me, in Tennesee already has one. I talked to them briefly this afternoon and he said it was the Camo model. I am not driving all the way over there Today however. Its in the middle of Johnson City also and there isn't a good place there to stretch one out on a test run. I'll probably go to the Local shop tomorrow and see whats up. They have a pretty good stretch of asphalt there in front so you can open the bikes up some and get a better idea. So guys might want to start checking around they are arriving at some dealers here in the south this week. 2005 Red Honda Rincon K&N Filter Outerwear DynoJet http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/card_shark53/my_photos |

I just talked to another dealer, the one I actually bought my 05 Rincon from in Wilkesboro.
He said they had just put a Camo one together and rolled it on the floor. So the first units all seem to be Camo models. I talked to him for a little bit and he said there was really no need for me to come down to ride it because it was the exact same setup, tranny as the 05. He said that was the first thing they did was check the engine braking because of all of the complaints and he said it was the same deal. He said that was the first thing they asked Honda about was the engine braking to. So he talked like there was really not much more interest or need for a ride if you already had the 05. He said they wouldn't be able to sell alot more because they were hoping for improved engine braking. So the impression I got from him on the phone even after I told him who I was and that I might be interested in a trade was if you've already got an 05 not much use in driving down here to ride the 06? I may go to local shop tomorrow anyway and take a spin. 2005 Red Honda Rincon K&N Filter Outerwear DynoJet http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/card_shark53/my_photos |

There was more changed on the rincon, the dealer seems a little stuck on engine breaking, the overall performance should be improved as well. The "first look" I posted above said the peformance was significantly increased so why wouldn't the dealer talk about that?
Did they even ride it? ---=Mine=--- 04 Rincon GPScape, Maxxis 25" Bighorn Radials with Maxxis 8 spoke rims, Warn Front Bumper, Aluminum Products full Belly Skid Plate, Front skid plate/Hook Holster, Front & Rear Stik-Gards, Warn 2500 LB winch, Kimpex Grip Heaters, Cabelas Large Rear Trunk, IPI Saddle Bag, 2" Receiver hitch, Kimpex Front Trunk Box, Oil Cooler Mod, Re-routed Carb Vent lines, 2" exhaust tip, Spider Grips and Custom Scratches Dings and Dents ---=Hers=--- 04 Rancher AT 400, Maxxis 25" Bighorn Radials, ITP C-Series Type 5 Wheels, Kimpex Grip Heaters, Perfex Suspension Kit, Kimpex Deluxe Rear Trunk, Spider Grips |

Well I got to be honest man. That is the Rincon killer here where I live. Nobody wants them because of the lack of engine braking. Dealer said this was the biggest complaint they had about the Rincon.
I don't think I could sell mine if I wanted to. I would have to trade it in because the first thing anyone here asks about is does it "holdback" on hills. I can't lie to them so most people up here don't want one for that simple reason. That dealer is in Wilkesboro which is much flater than up here in the mountains where I live and its still hurts the sales he said. Most folks here want a manual shift anyway and if its an auto its got to have good engine braking. Thats just what folks here prefer. Having said all that, the dealership I mentioned first got the Rincon last night. They are putting it together today. I was going over simply to see for myself for the fun of it. I wouldn't trade most likely anyway if what the other dealer says is true. I wouldn't be benifitting myself anyway by trading and still having just a 3 speed machine. I myself don't beleive the 3 gears is really enough here. A 3 speed is limited IMO. Also I wanted to talk with them and just see the difference in terms of price on a trade. But I am betting it would be around 3k. Way too big of a loss on a one year machine. Especially if theres no more difference in them than what the dealer said. Those first looks are always bull. Look at the Brute first look, King quad all of them where way over the top. Best IRS Suspension Brute, even one I read said the King had more power than the V-twins. All these first reviews seem biased to me. Later more truthful opinions come out from individuals. Don't get me wrong, I can use my Rincon for years to come and its real sweet for certain conditions thats for sure. Also I am sure the new Rincon is stroger. I mean guys, you know the increase in CCs and the probably the fuel injection also will make "some" difference in the machine. I am SURE it will have more torque. More refined, yes. I was kinda hoping the EFI would cure the stalling issue. I hate that! I was gonna try and power brake it in the lot to see if it would stall. If and when I were to trade I would step it up with a V twin for one and definetly add a low and engine braking for where I ride I think that would suit me better. But I am content with the my Rincon for now and who knows what the future will bring. 2005 Red Honda Rincon K&N Filter Outerwear DynoJet http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/card_shark53/my_photos |
