My choke button will not stay pulled out during warm up? Is there any way to adjust the choke so it will stay pulled out? |

If you look at the base of where the chohe knob comes out (near the boot) turn the knob clockwise and that tightens it up

Hey I got a question for any one out there, I havan 05 rancher at, and the quad is showing all theexact sme simptoms as the 04's are showing has any body with an 05 had or having this problem?

The 04's were having a problem with downshifting into first gear wich was causing premature ware on th clutch. mine is showing all of the simptoms even down to the clutch i had replaced to the sum of 600. still fighting the dealer but i hope i come out on top. There was a recall to replace the ECM on the '04's. They sometimes wouldn't downshift like you described causing wear on the clutch. This recall fixed my problems I had. The recall also covered replacing the clutch if it had signs of scoring.

Hey Scrappy how are you, thanks for the info i have the dealer looking int to it because this is the 4th time going into the shop. the one guy that i've been talking to said that he might put a ecm into it to see if it fixes it. if it does they should owe me a lot of money back???

I went to the dealer to have a new ECM put in and so far it has shown no change, still boggs down in around 4 miles an hour. Don't know what it still could be. the guy(patrick) who I've been dealing with has no clue either. Is it a possibility that 28in tires are causing this prob.? Either way this weekend Me and my fiance are going out to make sure that it does or does not do it. Sorry that didn't fix it. WOW 28in tires on a 400, that's pretty big for that relatively small motor. Does it turn them in the mud?

Well I'm no happier that it did'nt fix than you are hearing it. Going riding today and bringing the stock tires with me to if it makes a difference or not. I'll kee you updated about that so stay tuned. As far as the question you had the answer is yes, they turned pretty good when I had the sock clutch in it but now that I have the Outlaw Heavyduty clutch in it the quad is now Damn near uncontrolable. My Fiance went to ride it and she nexteled me and come get you're quad be it almost broke her wrist with the torque it has now. The Size is 28x12x13.5Rear 28x12.9.5Front, add that to a 2" lift and I now have about 11-12 inches of clearence, would like to get a little more but I don't think that i can. YO Scrappy whats up not much here.
Well the testing went as this, I put the stock tires on and surprise to me it did the same thing but the speed was around 6-8 miles an hour. So back to honda it goes but not right away, I got it swamped today, I believe that all I need to do is clean the float out (I hope). The reason is it runs good but seems like its getting no fuel. You might want to change the oil and filter to make sure you didn't get any water in it. Really sorry that you still have the problem.
What is the dealer purposing you do now? Well the saga continues but the good news is that I found alot og dirt in the carb witch will go back in tomarow and should be good. Talked to some people and they believe its the angle sensor on mine, This means It will have been in the shop for it's 5th time soon and I believe I will tell them to get a tech on it. well im still stuck with my 04 rancher at 400- its still SLOW and underpowered- should have went with a different atv, mine will barely turn the tires in mild boggy conditions...........and yep ive had the ECM replaced and all the other quirks that this bike came with..............

Hey KY_Rancher sorry to hear that you are having problems with yours (like Im not, LOL) What size are your tires. As I said before to Scrappy I'm Sitting on A set of 28's and the in the begining they seemed to do good but over time I lost a little performance in the mud but that was all fixed but the outlaw clutch from highlifter. hope you have better luck than me mine is in the shop for it's 5th time and they still can't figure out STILL. JLR-wow- i cant believe that youre AT will even pull itself with that size tire..........i have stock everything on mine and its as sick as a dog passing a peach seed.....
 ..........im guess i need to do some after market upgrades to mine-like a pipe and jet kit,etc.............i just hate sinking anymore money into it............what all have you done to youres and at what expense - if you dont mind me asking.......... |

Man I am so glad I got a good Rancher. I wish you guys didn't have problems. This thing launches like crazy, ever since the ECM recall. I love it!

sorry for the lenghty time since i've replied but the quad was in the shop and surprize THEY DID'NT FIX AGAIN but they did'nt find that the speed sensor was reading real high voltage so the put in a new one. when I bring it back again for the 6th time there going to bring in a Honda tech (I suggested that on the third time I had it there) KY_Rancher even thogh I've had these problems the only mod I've done was to put a high lifter heavy duty outlaw clutch kit in at the sum of 6 bills. I did'nt like paying that much but it's a nite and day differnce. Just got done making a custom front bash guard for it. (looks good).
