I have this Honda with electric shift. It shifts good until I slow it down or stop it with either the hand
or food brake. Then the shift indicator blinks and I cannot shift it anymore. I have to turn the ignition off and then turn it on again and it will shift good until I hit either the hand or foot brake. Any help would be appreciated very much.
Thanks in Advance: Karal

The es models need to be downshifted as you slow down, they dont always want to shift more than one gear if you just stop them in gear.

To GunRunner: I guess I didn't explain my problem right.

I start the engine and then without moving just press the foot or hand brake and the shift indicator blinks and it won't shift.
I have to turn the ingition off and then on and it will start and shift. Then I can ride around upshift and downshift just fine until I tap the brakes again. The shift indicator blinks and I have the same problem.

Thanks in Advance for the Help. Karal

Sounds like a bad angle sensor. But never heard of the brake having anything to do with it. The blinking indicator is giving a code.

Yea, you might just have a loose or corroded electrical plug, try unpluging any plugs and apply some dielectric grease to them, check battery cables to. The only connection between brakes and shifting is a nuetral safty switch but that only controls starting in gear not shifting. The es only uses a electrical solenoid to move manual shift lever up or down, its just loosing a good hot or ground connection somewhere, or it could be a bad shift solenoid but thats doubtful on that new a model.

We still haven't figured out the problem. He has both of the brake switches disconnected. It works fine that way.
We don't go on the road with it. So we let it be. Thanks: Karal

hey if that dont work you might need to replace the angle sensor on the side of the trans it tells the trans its ok to shift if you have a es it will also not let you sift all the time it will flash the code for it going bad on the green nutral light it will be flashing the new angle sensor is about 35-50 dollars but if you call your local honda shop if it is original like mine was parts and labor is a recall from honda and its free lol
