Hi all, thanks in advance for any help you can give me! I'm new to this forum, but not to forums in general. I have a 350 Rancher 4wd that I bought new. In 5 years I have had literally 0 problems with it. I use it to plow my long, long driveway (I live in a big lake effect snow region) and play with it in the spring/summer/fall. Nothing too drastic though, mainly just field running. Anyhow, all of a sudden it quit starting, but you could pull start it. I assumed the battery went low, and I charged it, but that didn't help. In fact it would no longer pull start. So I started looking, found the main fuse was blown. So I put a new fuse in, it blows as soon as it touches the contacts. So I unhooked the battery, put it in, but it then blows when I hook up the battery (plenty of charge!). I asked a guy at a local shop who no longer does 4 wheelers and he felt it could be the selenoid/relay. I called the Honda dealer amd they said they have never EVER had to order one it was probably the starter. They wanted $350!!!! Another dealer wanted $250 for new, $125 for rebuilt. I found a new one on ebay for $72. I put this in, but it didn't solve the problem. Before I go any further, can anyone give me a n idea of what to look for next? I have not been able to find any shorts so far. Thanks!

WELL, I figured it out. Took two hours to check the continuity on all the wires etc to discover that the voltage regulator is what went bad. I see this forum is dead with no activity, so CYA!

Sounds like the voltage regulator is bad. it takes more than a day sometimes to get feedback, most of us work all day not read the posts.
