All right well I just purchased an Artic Cat 250. I haven't ridden it yet. But I know these things are very heavy for a 250. My question is there anything I can do to it to add power. It was just so cheap I couldn't pass it up. I am impressed with the IRS and the thing feels like a tank sitting on it.

Any suggestions on gaining more power or anything else I should do to it?

just ride it, who did you get it from, wasn't greywolf was it?

You just gotta remember also, that the 420 you're use to is twice as bigg and twice the power.... just get on it and get use to it.... you may see if the muffler/tailpipe needs cleanin out.

All right got to ride the arctic cat 250. Man this thing is heavy, looked up the specs and its heavier than my rancher. It looks like they used the same frame for all the different utility models that year. Anyways I liked the ride, but it does need a little more power to make up for the weight. I have a hill that I climb on the recons and the rancher. They both tear right up it. The arctic cat bogs down big time and barely makes it. I know the recon is a whole lot lighter, but man I sure would like to atleast keep up with them.

Just got a 08 250 for my wife. That thing is really quick for a utility. It'll stand straight up with no problem. My 07 650 is heavy but takes the mud really good.

That 08 250 is a nice machine. Was thinking about getting one for my wife. Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for it?

I take care of my stuff myself- doesn't mean I don't put them through the paces but i'm not gonna beat the sh!t out of it on purpose. I do want them to last.

The Arctic cat 250s since 2005 are kymcos made in china , not made by cat just sold by them. To get a real arctic cat made you need a 400 or up.

Oh, I thought all of the arctic cats had kymco motors now. So anything 400 and up is Arctic Cat. Thanks Gunny.

No kmyco motors, the whole dang machines are kymco in the 250s just have arctic cat decals on them, the 400,500 and 07 700 all have suzuki motors and the atv made by arctic cat. The 04-06 650 V's motors were kawasaki, the HI 650 motor and now the 700 Hi are made by arctic cat. Soon all except the 250 will be completely made in MN by AC. They also have a 1000 v-twin atv called the thundercat and it is 100% arctic cat.

Yeah, on my way to Windrock I stopped and purchased a kolpin gas can for the rack and got to see the thundercat. It looked impressive.
