Can Am Issues Reply with quote Edit/Delete this post Delete this post
I Have a 07 Outlander 650. I Have owed it for the 3 months. It's been in the Shop for a total of 5 weeks. SAD SAD SAD Several issues, First the Winch not reeling back in just out and the exhaust rattling. Winch they did nothing and they used gasket sealer in the pipe joints and replaced the spring with POLARIS SPRING for the exhaust (15 Days), then the axle shaft inner spider gear just shattered turning in 4wheel drive. They replaced the whole axle (4 Days), then the oil started leaking in the back of motor, They replaced the outer trans seal and O-rings and replaced oils (8 Days) Then while pulling logs from the wood the check engine light came on. I looked at the 4wheel and found the oil 3/4qt low they had just replaced the trans and engine oil replacing the seals. I took it in,They called and said the engine light was from low voltage output. They said it only happens using the winch at idle (9 Days) They called Oct 18 Now it's still at the shop. Remiy at Quebec BRP say it's acceptable for the 650's engine light to come if the winch is being use at idle. The machine has to be at 3000 rpms for it not to come on. So there not going to do anything about it. OK So how do you idle up the motor when you are using the remote winch controls. (I guess you use an 8 foot arm I got 1 anyone else).
Is there a LEMON law on ATV's
Does anyone else have these problems specially the winch idle problem. don't think any other ATV does this.
Does this all sound like a Sound ATV.
$8500.00 for a piece of junk.
Am i just stuck with a CAN AM that was built on a Thursday before and 3 day weekend.

Sorry for venting Seydel2001

I purchased a 2004 Outlander Max 2-up for working around the property and taking my disabled husband fishing. I have had quite a few problems including replacing 2500# warn winch after 2 yrs. I just got it back from the shop, while using the snow plow the battery shorted out. My dealer specified the voltage regulator was bad and over charged destroying the regulator, harness, battery, starter, and starter drive. Total cost just parts $915.14, I have 485 miles on it, it is like brand new and Can Am will not due a thing to reimburse me even after the dealer said the voltage regulator was bad. My Opiniion, Can Am (BRP) doesn't back their products. I do not advise anyone to buy from them.

Sorry to here what happened.
Around Dec 10th My winch went out using the plow. Brought it to the dealer and they said it was a bad winch (2500) and the solenoid. Waited for 2 weeks for a response on when the parts are coming in, All the parts are either discontinued or weeks out, So they got a 3000 lb. winch package and some parts for the Polaris package and install that. 2500 winch is causing a lot of the problem.
With the new 3000 winch installed my engine lite hasn't come on yet. Before it was every time I used it.
For more info check out this site. you'll get a lot more help there and response.
