You can adjust and limit the speed, and has a remote kill switch, in case you need to stop it.

If we were that saftey minded, he probably wouildn't be on the atv to start with. But when we feel, he's getting to speeds where he needs one, we will get him one. Besides where do you find a helmet that properly fits a 3 year old?

my son ben is 3yrs old and started riding with me at just a little over a year with a bicycle helmet...at age 2 he fit the actual atv helmet made for kids and is adjustable (with pad inserts that come with it) to fit roughly 3 kids sizes....my local atv dealer carries about 30 different kids helmets all in one section of the store next to the kid sized atv's...the 50cc machines have a requirement of 6yrs old and when he reaches that age he will get his own first atv...he also has thor protective gear (wears it sometimes) and scott goggles (wears them sometimes), but he wears the helmet every time he even gets on the machine....i also rigged up a seatbelt for him that attaches w/ velcro he can put on himself...his picture is in pictures section of www.ncaa-inc.com (the club i belong to) and in the picture he is wearing a red jacket and a blue helmet(full face style)....good kids helmets aren't even that expensive.. I let ben pick out his own

????Seat Belts On An ATV?????? Rode with you at 2 years old! The ATV "requirement" states no passengers. Are you always this irresponsible?

I realize that this is an old post....i missed the 25 MAR 06 post from fourplay....apparently i touched a nerve ....didn't mean to...i was just curious, then surprised that the young man didn't have head protection....item #2-the seat belt...i know it sounds in principle like a bad idea untill you see it and put it in context...i ride slow through deep mud/water(approx. 5mph)and bumpy terrain...when ben's weight was lower it kept him on the machine w/ me...he has out grown the seat belt and no longer needs it to stay on the machine w/ me....he has also gone through 2 more helmets(growth spurt...and now prefers modular)..item#3-atv "requirement"...i am unsure of the source of this info, but in my area and in canada if the machine has a plastic seat box and foot pegs for the passenger (or it is specifically made for 2) then 2 people can legally ride it...item#4 "are you always this irresponsible"....i hope that was an opinionated rhetorical remark....i've worked for the sheriff's office for 9 years now.....

Its not a requirement to wear a helmet in this area also. But I am Glad to hear you are no longer tying your infant son down to a full size atv anymore. Also if you will notice on your atv rear seat, it will still say "No Passengers". But, that is probably a lot safer than strapping him down. Congradulations on your 9 years of employment with the sheriffs offfice.

the "no passengers" written(molded) into the top of the seat box is in my opinion the equivalent of mcdonalds writing "caution contents are hot" on cups of hot coffee and are simply a legal way of limiting liability........but is the ludacris equivalent of writing "not for sitting" on a lazy boy recliner.....is the printing on top of the seat box the "requirement" you make reference to or is it another source?........i also thought that new hampshire was the only state that "lacked" a helmet law....you could always call your legislators to request one.....

So its "your opinion", that its alright to ride double, so that saftey issue can be overlooked.
And its "your opinion" that a helmet is needed, so that saftey issue should be enforced.
Is that what you are trying to say?

riding double with the aforementioned provisions and helmet use is written into state law, not "opinion"....i'm sorry i confused you....i have also noticed we have drastically deviated from your original blog...no offense intended....what is most important is that you continue to enjoy the sport we both choose to partake in....with the price of gas i doubt i'll be making it to ole'miss riding anytime soon.....hatfield/mccoy within the near future though...
